Good Shepherd was formed in 1973 as a consolidation of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Christ Lutheran Church but our roots go back to 1845.
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church was organized on December 5, 1845 when the Lutheran members withdrew from the combined Lutheran/Reformed Congregation. Christ Lutheran Church was formed in 1894 as a mission church of St. John’s Lutheran Church in south Wilkes-Barre.
In 1973 St. Paul's Lutheran church and Christ Lutheran Church consolidated to form Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Good Shepherd continues to carry out is mission to learn, celebrate and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people.
Good Shepherd is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregation within the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod.
