MOVING FORWARD WITH GOD’S GRACE
This coming Sunday, October 2, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre will be celebrating “Sharing Sunday”. Acknowledging that we have been blessed in so many ways by God, we come together to be inspired to be a blessing for others. Our 11 am worship will be highlighted will members’ faith testimonies of how God has given and strengthen their faith, as well as live music from “Making a Difference Ministry”. Please join us as we open ourselves up to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. With the Spirit’s guidance, we give of our time, talents, and treasure for the good of God’s creation. God is good! All the time!
Come and enjoy a day of fun, food, and fellowship on Sunday, July 31st, at Kirby Park, Wilkes-Barre. Outdoor, informal, casual worship begins at 12:00 noon in Pavilion #3 (next to the softball field and playground), picnic begins at 1:00 pm. Hamburgers and water will be provided by the church. You are welcome to bring something to share.

The weekly prayer initiative that was started in February at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is continuing as a monthly event. On the second Tuesday of each month, interested persons are welcome to gather in Good Shepherd’s sanctuary for intentional, focused prayer. Believing in the power of prayer and the Holy Spirit, those gathered will be specifically guided to pray for our church, its ministries and its leaders. Prayer begins at 6:00 pm, and lasts 30 – 40 minutes. All are welcome. For more information contact the church.
On Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 12 Noon, the Christian Community is invited to attend a Service of Praise and Prayer for Christian Unity. This prayer service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 97 S Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. Prime Bishop Anthony Mikovshy of the Polish National Catholic Church will be the homilist. Fellowship will follow the prayer service, so that we can continue our efforts to celebrate and work for Christian unity.
Our annual Palm Sunday procession was led by children riding on a miniature horse. The procession included signing and waving palms as we took the message of Christ’s triumphant ride into Jerusalem through the streets of downtown Wilkes-Barre. Dr. Raymond Khoudary, a local physician in the Wyoming Valley and devout Christian, will be making a presentation on the topic of recent suffering by Christians in Syria and surrounding areas. This presentation will be held at 10 am, March 8, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 813 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, PA 18704. This is being arranged through the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Mission District. It is open to the public and free.
